Frequently asked questions

Questions people actually ask

What happens in the free session?

The student builds and programmes a working sensing robot in ninety minutes, live, with an engineer guiding them. The kit is posted at no cost.

Is it live or recorded?

Live. Instruction is in small groups, from engineers, rather than recorded video.

What hardware is involved?

Hardware kits are posted at each stage, progressing from motors and sensors through microcontrollers, motor control, sensing and closed-loop control to autonomous behaviour.

Who is it for?

Teenagers aged 12 to 17 with a genuine interest in engineering, and their parents, as well as competition teams and homeschool families.

What if there is no robotics team near us?

Competition preparation includes team formation for students with no local team.

What does it cost?

The first session and kit are free. Weekly live small-group instruction is 149 dollars a month with hardware included, and a full competition preparation season with team placement is 890 dollars.

Are scholarships available?

Yes. Scholarships are funded from a fixed percentage of revenue, and that percentage is published.

Why should I trust the home robotics readiness check?

It is worked out from your answers in your browser. It checks the practical set-up, not ability or talent. The free live build session, with a kit posted at no cost, is the real test of whether hardware robotics suits the student.

Is your teenager set up to learn robotics with real hardware at home?

Answer twelve questions about interest, space and equipment, and time and support. See what is already in place for live, hands-on classes at home and what to sort out first. Runs in your browser. No account, no card, no call.
